The Power of Animation Production

Hey everyone! So, are you going to order your first animation video, but you don’t quite realize what you are getting yourself into? Or just curious about how to make animated videos? Today Rob and I will give you a tour of the key milestones of the animation process – let’s begin and see what you’ve got to look forward to!

1. Brief

A Creative brief is a first and most important phase in a video production workflow. It entails defining the general styles, duration of the animation, and basic script ideas. The more precise you formulate the task, the better it will be estimated and performed. A competently drawn-up brief increases the quality of the final result several times and significantly reduces the duration of a production process.

2. Script, Storyboard & Animatic

Our Wow-team develops a plot and writes an animation script. It contains all the storyline and visual actions, on which the preparation of a storyboard and animatic will be based. A storyboard is a set of sketches of the key scenes based on the visual description that visualizes the storytelling, while an animatic is an animation of the storyboard scenes showing the camera movements, object locations, and the main actions of the animated project. It is a preparatory stage for the main process, so everything must be done correctly. By the way, Rob and I just love the creative sessions at this stage of the project!

3. Style Frames & Illustrations

The next animation production step is developing outstanding characters, selecting backgrounds, and preparing various visual animation elements as detailed designs and images. It’s time to choose a color palette, including the colors of various objects and lighting. Another important step in the animation production pipeline is developing backgrounds, on which various actions will come to life. How about making the main character look like you, huh?

4. Animation

Here our wow-animators and designers do their best turning illustrations into a real story. This animation step includes the characters’ walking, talking, thinking, and feeling. The wow team plans every detail of the animation by imagining all scenes and actions, highlighting and defining major and minor actions, developing each character. This is one of my favorite production processes, where ideas are brought to life!

5. Post Production

Here you admire the result, while the team is polishing every detail of the animation and actor’s voice, adding music and SFX (sound effects), as well as implementing final edits and comments. Once approved, the wow-team creates a file in high definition, so you can use it for wherever you need – from mobile devices to movie theaters.

Today we took a short tour of the main processes of animation together – hope you are satisfied with this journey as much as I do!
