Assets Design/Modeling

Spread the love

Nowadays in the video game and film industries, you need 3D modeling. Static image modeling and creating moving objects for games is an integral part of these spheres.

There are a lot of big and small graphic objects in modern plays and applications. These objects are often called game assets. In some cases, it is a good idea for developers to outsource game assets creation while focusing on core, major elements of the design, like main characters, story, or functionality. It is a common practice, especially when scaling.

Game assets are simple visual (audial in some cases) elements or accessories used during video game modeling, apps interface creation, or even animated films. In playing and movies, these are things that fill the environment around the main action: furniture, trees, and clouds, pots and chests, dust, and stones. It can also be a typical interaction element like gems you move when playing a match 3 game or buttons or icons you press within an app.

Video assets are not just design layout in the UI/UX, they interact with each other. Assets can be textures on the walls or background. When all the assets are completed, then they are implemented into the engine.

Types of game dev assets

Assets can be almost anything but the most typical assets are:

  • video game sprites are two-dimensional images of objects: trees, backgrounds, characters;
  • visual effects: can be explosions, filters, vibrations, etc.;
  • avatars;
  • game encyclopedia illustrations;
  • models: 3D game assets replace sprites in the 3D gaming;
  • prefabs: finished objects with attached components;
  • textures;
  • scenes – locations for the round;
  • interface elements: fronts, buttons, images;
  • animations: special files that describe the order of frame changes for the 2D game assets;
  • sound effects and music.

Developers often try to create all assets themselves. In the early stage of the work, everything is going well. But when the mechanic specialists are overwhelmed with tasks and need to speed up to the pace, outsourcing companies are coming to help. It is a specialized tool that fits perfectly in different stages of the project.

In today’s context and rhythm of life, it is wise to focus on key aspects of the unity game assets. Wise to produce assets partly or entirely outsourced. When you understand well what you want, then you connect with outsourced. You should give tasks that have a pipeline, i.e. ready-made examples and technical tasks. Of course, you just have to set the styling and keep the situation under control.

The challenge for the designer is that by acquiring the concept and attracting the range of skills, create 3D game modeling on high-level quality. He should fully understand and accept the principles of concept design and, also could create and animate video game assets.

Outsourcing helps to save companies money in the first place. When companies have a lot of tasks, it allows them to close most of them. Thankful outsourcing companies can maintain less staff, which means lowering the cost of social funds and tax payments.

3D Modeling for games for individual tasks is a specialized service. In this way, both parties benefit. Competent people are professionals in their business. They are best in solving highly specialized problems.
